North Carolina Diamond

Featured on the cover of Volume I, Issue 2 of American Rockhound magazine, this is a possible North Carolina diamond (7.27 cts.) from the Ken Kyte collection. When I purchased the estate collection of Mr. Kyte in 2000, this was in a cigar box marked "North Carolina Gemstones" I was able to identify all the locations of the rubies, sapphires, aquamarine, emerald, etc, but not this one. I gave the diamond to geologist Ed Speer to write a paper and do some research. I still have no proof positive of the location found, but if this can ever be verified, it would make this the largest diamond ever found in North Carolina.

Below is a copy of the paper that Ed Speer wrote.
